The Money Pit

Have any of you seen The Money Pit? I remember the first time I saw it, I had never laughed soo hard in my entire life!!! I specifically remember this part as being the reason:

Unfortunately, Rob and I have been experiencing a little "Money Pit" of our very own. Within the last year (+1 month), we have had to replace our washer and dryer, our microwave, and most recently, our fridge and our dishwasher (Rob just installed the new dishwasher on Saturday night). So, a few thousand dollars later, we were just crossing our fingers that nothing else would happen. Sadly, we didn't get much of a break. Last night, I had put in a load of towels and I was getting ready for bed when I heard loud thrashing, banging sounds out by the kitchen. I came running out, to see the wall outside the laundry room/pantry shaking and when I tried to open the door, the door knob wouldn't even budge and I couldn't open the door. I grabbed my phone and took a video of my exciting experience. So, as if the loud, thrashing, banging noises weren't enough, imagine my horror when I started hearing GLASS shattering!!! (you can hear it on the video). Ya, it was totally freaky. I didn't know what the H- E double hockey sticks was going on inside my pantry and there was no way to find out. So I called Rob, (it was 12:30) and he had me turn off the power to the washer and dryer. Then I found his crowbar and took off the trim of the door, to try and take the door off its hinges. But that's as far as I got. So, this morning, Dan-the-handy-man-Tenney came and took down the door for me. I was sooo scared to see what had happened. I had envisioned the pantry shelving falling off the wall, jars and glass bottles of food and apple cider all over the place, or the dryer that was on top of the washer, falling off, face down and shattered. I had NO idea. We found that the washer and dryer was still stacked, but it had "walked about a foot and a half" and that's how it was blocking the door. Then found that the inside of the washer door made of glass had shattered into a billion pieces. So, yay, it was a "contained mess". Not yay that: a) I don't have a working washing machine, b) an entire load of towels and washcloths and my awesome VS robe has to be thrown away, and c) when I pulled out my receipt, I found out that we bought the washer/dryer 1 year and 1 month ago... and we only had a 1 year warranty on it. Can you say FABULOUS!?!?!?! So, I called the place we bought it from and they told me to call their service department. Then THEY told me to call BOSCH. Then, after several disconnected calls, they gave me a list of local places to call that service Bosch appliances, one of which happened to be the place that we bought them from. By the time I received this information, it was after 5:00 this afternoon and of course they closed at 5. Tomorrow should be fun! Wish me luck that I don't go postal on someone!!!!
Oh, and can't forget this: This happened a couple weeks ago when I had asked Logan to bring in the ladder for me so I could put up my regular decor after taking down the Christmas stuff. He had brought it in for me and leaned it up against the wall. Well, I got busy and wasn't able to get to it right away and all of a sudden we hear this loud CRASH! Berkley had knocked the ladder over (thankfully not onto herself) and it landed right on the wall, so now there's a huge gash right by the front door. It's so lovely.

Hailey's 7!

Hailey didn't have a birthday party last year, because I was about to have Berkley and I had NO desire whatsoever to throw a party for her. So this year, I told her she could choose 3 friends and we would go out to lunch and a movie to celebrate. She chose to invite Taylor Norman, Ally Beeman, and her cousin Gabrielle. It was soo much fun. Those girls were so silly! We went to McDonald's for lunch and saw YOGI BEAR in 3D.... (don't ask me what compelled the girls to want to see that! LOL) She had a great day!

Where is everybody?

Ok, when I first started this blog, I did it for the sole purpose of keeping a "family journal" for us. And that is still my main purpose. But then once I started it, and started receiving fun comments from all my "blogging" friends, I started liking the feeling of being "close" to my friends, especially those who are far away. And now since a couple years have gone by, I've noticed a significant decrease in the number of comments... which leads me to wonder.... are we all just too busy? Am I not leaving enough comments on other friends' blogs in order to receive any comments? Has everyone just stopped blogging/ blog surfing? Is my blog too boring? I miss you friends! Let me know what's goin on! ;)

Iron Man's 4

When Berkley was born, we asked Hudson what he wanted her to call him, since Logan was "Bubba" and Hailey was "Sister", and he said "IRONMAN!" So, that's who he's been for the last 10 months. He's never even seen the movie, but he is obsessed with Iron Man, so it was only fitting that he got the costume for his birthday.

Rob was going to be in Portland on his actual birthday, so we decided to have his birthday dinner at Red Robin on Monday night. My parents and Grandma Necia came, Auntie, Tycie, McLaine, Carson, Uncle Joey, Aunt Jeana, Gabrielle, Hayden and Olivia all came out to celebrate with us. It was sooo much fun! Then afterwards, we went to Uncle Joey and Aunt Jeana's house where Aunt Jeana made Hudson the yummiest birthday cake! (She is seriously so awesome! She offered to make his cake because I've had strep throat) So we ate and he opened his presents. Soo much fun, especially for it not even being his "real" birthday yet!
He had preschool on his birthday (how cool is that?!?!), so he took Lofthouse sugar cookies with blue frosting and sprinkles to his friends and teachers. He was so excited! He came home with a big gift bag from his friend (possibly future wife) Emily. LOL She got him Spiderman slippers, Spiderman gloves and a Spiderman scarf. He has not stopped wearing them! Then he got to open the rest of his presents from us last night. He was so good on his birthday. He just totally went with the flow and didn't have the gimme gimmies which made me soo happy.
He is such a fun kid. He can always make us laugh. We love you buddy and are so lucky to have you in our family! :)
Here are some things Hudson loves:
Waffles (he eats 3 every morning)
Water
Legos and lego.com
lightsabers
playing games on iPhones
Macaroni & tomato
reading Toy Story books
Watching Dora, Team Umizoomi, Max & Ruby, Scooby Doo and Tom & Jerry
dark chocolate milk
Cup o noodles
his brother and sisters
yes, probably in this order. :) jk He really does love them.
What he got for his bday:
Auntie & cousins: coloring book, stickers, crayons
Aunt Jeana, Uncle Joey & cousins: super hero Color Wonder, lego set, Starbursts
Grandma Necia and Grandma and Grandpa: a new sweatsuit... it's seriously pimpin'! LOL
Mommy, Daddy, brother and sisters: IronMan costume, football, microphone, Ironman car that goes suppper fast and new clothes.

10 months old

Berkley is 10 months old today. She is cutting her 4 top teeth right now, so needless to say, nap times and bedtimes have not been going very smoothly. I meant to take a picture of her teeth today, but she's asleep right now, so I'll take one tomorrow. She'll have 6 when these are through.
She is such a fun little girl. Every morning, when she makes her first squawks of the day, Logan, Hailey & Hudson fight over who gets to go get her out of bed. So we all usually end up going in there and she won't let anyone get her out, except for Mommy. As long as I get to hold her first, then she is fine with her brothers and sister holding her. LOL
She has been quite the drama queen with eating more coarse and textured foods. The second we feed her something that she doesn't like, she gags until she almost throws up. We have Uncle Mark to blame for it. I guess he went through a 'gagging stage' as a kid and I laugh so hard every time Rob talks about it. (But I'm not laughing too hard about it now!) I'll have to ask him how he grew out of it, so I can help Berkley! LOL So, right now, she loves eating "stage 1" foods.... rice cereal, sweet potatoes, carrots, bananas, pears, apples.... ya, it's ridiculous how picky she is. She hates anything green... I don't know who she gets that from??? All our other kids were chowing down table foods by now. So, I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions anyone?
She also has the cutest personality. She says so many things right now.
Hi
Thank you (Daynt doo)
Mama
Dada
Poop (ya, I know. We don't encourage it, but she totally whispers it now whenever we are changing her poopy diaper. Lovely!)
Uh oh! (she drops things on purpose just so she can say it)
She's said nana a couple times, but i think it was on accident, either way, she did say it. :)
Right now I'm trying to teach her to say Night night, but no luck yet.
She is crawling every where and is so fast! At night, when I tell the older kids to get in bed and I'll be down in a minute to say prayers with them, she will follow me around upstairs and stop at my feet, to make sure I pick her up, so I will take her with me to say goodnight with the kids. If I go without her, she cries so hard. When we get downstairs she practically jumps out of my arms to lay in each of the kids' beds with them while we say prayers. She absolutely LOVES her brothers and sister.
We can't even imagine our lives without her.
Just for fun, I thought I'd include this picture of Hailey at 11 months old, wearing the dress Berkley has on. This is one of my favorite pictures of Hailey when she was little.

Hudson's Christmas Program

Last week was Hudson's preschool Christmas program. It was ADORABLE!!! He kept playing with his tie, (out of nervousness, I'm sure) but it will always be something fun to laugh about. After the program, I managed to fix it, and get a picture of him up on the stage.

Spirit Day: Mismatch Day

Hailey has inherited my excitement for Spirit Days. She loves to go all out on them. Here she is on "Mismatch Day"

Logan, on the other hand, is just like Rob. And only dresses up after much coercing takes place. You can't tell, but he has navy blue long underwear underneath his shorts. He's so crazy, isn't he? LOL
