2 month checkup stats

Today was Berkley's 2 month check up. With all the stories of them "possibly being linked to" things such as autism and mental retardation, etc., I had been stressing about her immunizations. All my other kids are immunized, so I knew I wanted to have her have the same protection, but I was thinking of having them given to her at different appointments throughout the month. When the dr. came in, I talked with him about my concerns. He said he was willing to do whatever I was most comfortable with. He said that the only thing that he would say about waiting, is that it lessens the body's immunity to those diseases and that studies have shown that it's best to give them all together to make the body's immunity stronger. So... I decided to go ahead with all of them. While we were waiting for the nurse to come in with the shots, I gave Berkley some infant's Motrin (less than 1 mL). By the time the nurse came in, I noticed that Berkley had a red line on her chin of where the motrin had dripped out of her mouth. So I was all freaked out that she had had an allergic reaction to the motrin. I wanted the dr. to come in and check her out. But the nurse went ahead with giving her the oral RHODA virus vaccine and then one shot in her upper thigh that had the other 3 vaccines. I was even more stressed now about the possible allergic reaction on top of the side effects of the vaccines. When the dr. came back in, he asked me what I gave her and I told him that I gave her infant's Motrin. He calmly told me not to freak out and that she'll be ok, but that infants under 6 months of age aren't supposed to have Motrin, only Tylenol. Oh my gosh... talk about Mother of the Year right here! I have 3 other kids, you'd think I'd have known not to do something so stupid!!! I was so mad at myself! But he told me she'd be fine and that it's just because baby's tummies don't have the enzymes that they need to break down the ingredients in Motrin. I found comfort in the fact that he wasn't worried about it and that she hadn't even swallowed the entire tiny dose that I had given her in the first place. Needless to say, she slept pretty heavily for the rest of the day. But it was still stressful, nonetheless. I kept waking her up and talking to her to make sure everything was ok. :) She loves to be talked to.

She is such a happy baby and we love her so much. I can't imagine my life without her!
