Thank you PBS

for having very boring shows for a 3 year old, (i.e. "Sit and Be Fit" and "Charlie Rose"). Yesterday, Berkley fell asleep about 10:30. Hudson was watching "Sesame Street"(not his favorite show, but he didn't complain about me changing it to "Diego"), so I went and layed down with her. When I woke up, I heard complete silence out in the living room and I immediately got worried. Where was he? What was he up to? What if he went outside? Maybe he's in Logan's room getting into things he shouldn't? Maybe he's playing with something else that he knows he shouldn't have... I started getting really worried. This is what I found...

He hasn't taken a nap for like a year! And he needed one so bad. He has had a bad cold and cough and has been so irritable and feisty. So... thank you PBS... you're a lifesaver!

Pros and Cons of having older children with a newborn

Pros:

They can report anyone being rough with the baby
They can feed the baby a bottle
They can hold the baby when mommy is making lunches and doing other things
They are good about washing their hands, and covering their mouths when they sneeze or cough
Their face expressions are fun to watch when the baby makes HUGE noises when she poops or foofs

Cons:
I can't 'sleep when the baby sleeps'.
They see things that they wouldn't normally see: for example mommy having something on her boob that is pumping 'stuff' into a container.
They're brutally honest
For example: The other day, I was sitting on the couch 'pumping', and Hailey goes "Mommy, why does your tummy still look like that?"

Lovin' it!

Berkley Jayne

born February 20th, 2010

9:28 pm
9 lbs.
20 inches

Berkley Jayne decided to come even earlier than our scheduled induction.

How to get your baby to come early:
go to chiropractor
eat an Albertson's maple bar
Plan a lunch date with a friend (who is due a day after you)
Plan to pack your hospital bag
Schedule a hair appointment
Plan to get a pedicure
Oh and also make sure that it's a day that your husband HAS to work

These are all things that I had 'planned' to do on Saturday... I only got through the first 3.
While I was getting ready to go to lunch with a friend, I started having fairly intense contractions. Deciding that it was probably 'false labor pains', I kept getting ready to go to lunch. My friend got to my house at about noon and I told her that I'd been having contractions, but that I'd just call Rob if he needed to come get me. So all throughout lunch, I had very intense contractions and by the time we were almost done, the contractions were about 5-6 minutes apart. By the time we pulled into my driveway, they were even closer. Rob was at a retirement home, giving presentations on 'home organization', so my mom and dad were at my house watching the kids and setting up the baby's crib. I told them that I felt like I needed to go to the hospital... just to get checked.
So, I got changed into something more comfortable, all the while breathing through contractions. By the time we got to the hospital, the contractions were about 4 minutes apart. By the time I got registered and put into a room, they checked me and I was dilated to a 3. Needless to say, they weren't letting me leave. It was exciting, but upsetting all at the same time. Rob wasn't with me and I couldn't get a hold of him, the doctor 'on call' was someone who I had heard unsatisfactory things about, they wouldn't call MY doctor to come in, my hospital bag wasn't packed, I couldn't get my hair done or get my pedicure! LOL Silly things, I know, but you know how you get when things don't go your way and there's nothing you can do about it! :)
I finally did get a hold of Rob and luckily, a woman that used to be in our ward is a labor and delivery nurse at the hospital and I had her cell phone # and she told me to call her at any time!!! So I called her and told her I was in labor. SHE CAME IN ON HER DAY OFF and took care of me until Berkley was born. She was sooooooo amazingly awesome. And the dr. 'on call' was super nice, funny, supportive , encouraging and all around great during the delivery. I was so blessed on so many levels.
The delivery itself was one of the most excruciating of all my deliveries, but the minute Berkley was born, it was the most wonderful feeling in the world! There is nothing like it. It made all the hard things I went through the previous 8 1/2 months worth every second! We adore Berkley and can't imagine our lives without her. We are so very blessed and I still find myself crying in awe at the miracle of being able to have this sweet child of our Heavenly Father sent to our home.

Ultrasound

Last Friday (2/5), we had an ultrasound. My OB likes to do one at 36-37 weeks to see how big the baby is, and to see if her head is down and everything. The good news is, she looks like she's in the right position... the bad news? She already weighs roughly 9 pounds!!! He was taking the measurements and went to the screen where it shows the estimated weight and he blurts out: "9 POUNDS?!?!" Rob laughed and I said "WHAT?!?!" He goes, "I guess I need to work on my poker face!" So, he took the measurements again and it was just about the same. I reminded him that #3 was 9'14 and he said "Well, it looks like she is trying to compete with big brother!" He suggested that I get induced at 39 weeks... so we set the induction for Monday, February 22nd... (unless I change my mind.) We are very excited for her arrival! And pray that everything will go smoothly! :)

Rob and Jaynee.... sick

Ok, I guess it's no surprise that I got sick AGAIN, but for Rob to get sick too, that never happens! We had gone out on Saturday night and we were both fine. Around 2:00 am, I couldn't sleep and ran into the bathroom to start my barfing spell.

I had been planning on taking the boys to church and Rob was going to stay home with Hailey, so Rob came in and I told him I had been sick all night long. He woke up feeling achy and had chills and a headache. So, needless to say, we were homebound for Super Bowl Sunday. My mom came and got Logan and Hudson so they could stay the night with them. Around 7:00, my legs and arms were tingling, and I had just thrown up the Sprite I drank. I decided that I needed to call my OB. The OB on-call told me to go to the hospital to get an IV and some fluids pumped in me. I felt so bad that Rob didn't feel well and had to drive me to the hospital. So, we packed up Hailey to take her to grandma and grandpa's house. We ended up checking me into the hospital first. I don't remember much. I remember them poking me several times trying to find a vein for the IV, but that's about it. One of our friends came down and helped Rob give me a blessing. I am so thankful for the Priesthood. After getting 1 1/2 bags of fluid in me and some anti-nausea meds, we left the hospital around 12:15 or so. They took a blood test and it just showed I had a virus of some sort. Lovely. So glad I got that flu shot!! I swear I need to live in a bubble!

What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger...

Right?

I'm holding on to the hope that it will make me stronger.... if I die, you'll know that it killed me.
